1. Microsoft Security Essentials: Microsoft is now offering a complete security suite for free to PC users that have a valid Windows install(sorry bootleggers!) Microsoft Security Essentials comes with antivirus, firewall, and spyware protection. Very easy to use and automates many tasks for you.

2. Norton Security Suite: Comcast internet subscribers can now get this $160 program free. It is unknown why Comcast made the switch from its previous antivirus program McAfee, but it’s still a win for Comcast internet users. Norton Security even tunes up your PC for you(There goes my business lol!). Norton Security Suite comes with antivirus, firewall, identity protection, and spyware protection.

3. Avast!:  Avast is a popular free antivirus program with over 100 million PC users. Recently, Avast launched version 5.0, which replaces Avast Home Edition. If all you do is browse the internet and check email, Avast! is for you. This free antivirus program does NOT come with a firewall, but does protect you against viruses and spyware.

All 5 of these free antivirus programs are very powerful and will protect your computer effectively. Personally I recommend them all, but since I use Comcast I got the Norton Security Suite.
